The workforce of the department is made up of various cadres of staff. These include; Pharmacists, Pharmacy Technicians, Supply Officers, Medicine Counter Assistants and Orderlies.
The department is headed by Dr. (Mrs.) Bertha Abakah, a Specialist Pharmacist.
UNITS
The department is made up of fourteen (14) units providing various specialised services at various service points in the facility. These units include:
Main Pharmacy: This Pharmacy is located around the Adult OPD area and it is opened between 8am to 8pm every day. It provides out-patient pharmaceutical care and also serve in-patient between the hours of 4pm and 8pm when the in-patient pharmacies are closed.
Night Pharmacy: Provides pharmaceutical care to all category of clients between the hours of 8pm and 8am the following morning every day.
Casualty Pharmacy: It is located at the casualty ward and opened from 8am to 4pm only on weekdays. This Pharmacy provides pharmaceutical care to clients at the casualty ward and the triage.
Ear/Nose and Throat/Eye (EENT) Pharmacy: Provides pharmaceutical care to patients who visit the Ear, Nose and Throat clinic as well as the Eye clinic from 8am to 4pm daily.
Kids OPD Pharmacy: Located at Children’s Out-Patient Department, this Pharmacy provides pharmaceutical services to clients who visit the Kid’s OPD and the Dental Clinic. It operates only on weekdays from 8am to 8pm.
ART Pharmacy: Provides pharmaceutical services to clients on anti-retroviral therapy who visit the facility from 8am to 4pm. It is located at the Counselling Unit, opposite the DOTs Centre.
Diabetes/Hypertension/ANC Pharmacy: Provides pharmaceutical services to clients who visit the Diabetes/Hypertension clinic as well as the Antenatal clinic from 8am to 4pm. It is located within the Diabetes/Hypertension clinic building
Psychiatry Pharmacy: Located at the Mental Health Unit, this Pharmacy provides pharmaceutical services to clients who visit the unit. It operates on weekdays from 8am to 4pm.
Female Ward Pharmacy: Provides pharmaceutical services to clients on admission at the medical wards, surgical wards, intensive care unit, main theatre and recovery unit from 8am to 4pm only on weekdays. It is located within the Female Medical Ward.
Kids Ward Pharmacy: Provides pharmaceutical services to clients on admission at the Children’s Wards, Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) from 8am to 4pm on weekdays as well as Saturdays and holidays from 10am to 4pm. It is located at the Kid’s Ward.
Gynae Pharmacy: Located at the Pre-natal/Gynae Ward, this Pharmacy provides pharmaceutical services to clients on admission at the Lying-in, Labor, Prenatal and Gynae Wards. It operates 7 days a week from 8am to 8pm during weekdays and 10am to 4pm during weekends and holidays.
24Hour Pharmacy: It is located adjacent the Havila canteen within the Hospital premises. This Pharmacy stocks quality, cost effective medical devices and operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Pharmacy Warehouse: This unit stores all the essential medicines in the facility. It ensures safe storage and supply of these medicines to the various pharmacy outlets and other units of the hospital. The Pharmacy Warehouse ensures that essential medicines delivered to the facility are of good quality and safe for use by our cherished clients.
Production Unit: The unit is involved in the production of Alcohol based local hand sanitizer in large quantities for corporate organisations, hospitals, clinics, the general population and the facility as well. Methylated spirit used by the hospital is solely prepared by the Pharmacy department.

Patients are advised to come with their hospital card and their health insurance card.
Patients with private insurance must also come along with their card.
Patients should first visit the OPD (Adults OPD for adult and Kids OPD for kids) to be given service. Doctors cannot consult without you first visiting the Medical Records to be given service.
Any additional health bills (service and drugs) that are not covered under an insurance should be paid at the mini banks provided around the hospital with a receipt in return. Under no circumstances should payment be made to a health staff.
